Abstract

The image and virtues of Santiago, the apostle were transformed in America, in act of appropriation and resignification. In the central Andes was incorporated in to the pantheon to the world of the ancestors, mountains and weather. In this way, is one of the elements that guarantee the renewal of the life cycle of individuals and communities, linking the wet dry season, areas of puna and quechua and the conjunction between the pastoralism and agriculture. All this reflection based on a fact fortuitously warned in a community of Huancavelica.
