Soccer is a sport that brings many people together in the world. At present, FIFA gathers 209 associations or federations from America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania. Each team is recognized with the name of its country or association: Brazil, Colombia, United Kingdom, Ivory Coast. However, in everyday speech, the national team and players often acquire nicknames which they are identified with; for example, with the colors of the national flag (albiceleste) [white and blue], the qualities of the region in which they are located (cafetero) [Coffee-grower], a part of the story for which they are known (samurái azul) [Blue samurai], etc. The aim of this paper is to present a lexical corpus of the different labels generally used in Peru to qualify players from each team. Each term is organized in a list of lexicographical entries including linguistic marks, definitions and usage examples. The data are drawn from various sources, especially newspapers and interviews. With this description, it is concluded that it is necessary to collect, record and define the lexicon of soccer nicknames, as part of the linguistic heritage of the Peruvian Spanish users.Downloads
