Abstract

This family is recognized in Peru with nine genera and approximately 45 species (Tryon & Stolze, 1993; Smith et al., 2005). Only one species is an endemic, and it mainly occupies forests in the region of the Humid Premontane Forest. This species has been infrequently collected and is not found in any protected area.
