Resumen

El presente texto es una breve presentación de algunas de las principales ideas desarrolladas en The Foundations of Modality, reciente libro del filósofo Peter Fritz1. El objetivo central del libro es desarrollar una teoría de la necesidad metafísica, una noción que ha jugado un papel crucial en la filosofía analítica de las últimas décadas. Este proyecto es llevado a cabo a partir de la articulación de una teoría de la individuación proposicional, es decir, de una teoría de las condiciones bajo las cuales dos proposiciones son la misma. Empiezo introduciendo el debate acerca del estatuto teórico de la necesidad metafísica. A continuación, presento las ideas principales de Fritz sobre la individuación proposicional y la teoría sobre la necesidad metafísica que construye a partir de ellas.
