Feedback control theory is a discipline based on mathematics and widely used in engineering. Clo- sed-loop controllers are essential for the proper operation and management of computer systems and data networks, but it happens that computer science practitioners usually only focus on the custom design of these controllers for each particular case, with ad hoc techniques. Control theory provides a systematic approach to design stable feedback control, preventing large fluctuations, reaching their targets with accuracy, and with fast response that enables them to quickly stabilize around the final steady-state value. This article provides a brief introduction to the fundamentals of control theory for computer science practitioners that focus their activities in applications with web server systems, database systems, email systems, systems real time and others.Downloads
