Studied the form, location and prevalence of the palatal cingulum of the upper lateral incisors to observe its importance in occlusion. The objective was to determine the presence of the cingulum on the upper lateral incisors and its importance to the stability of normal occlusion. The sample was comprised 100 patients and students who attended the school of Dentistry of San Marcos University who took impressions of anterosuperior side and models to analyze the presence, location, size and relationship with existing dental pathology, we use a Nonius (Vernier), observation was with increase of 3.5 x magnifying glasses, all models were photographed and placed in tabs informed consent was filled with. We could verify that a third, presented cingulum, which the most frequent location was in cervico-central, that there were different sizes and anatomical presentations, or cingulum parts that were not related to the presence of Pathology; using the statistical package 20 SSPS. We conclude that the palatal cingulum maintains the stability of the occlusion in the anterior side. Gender, nor location differences were found both the tooth and the Palatine sector, which is a ratio of one to two, which prevents tooth wear and that there is a pathology of wear on those incisors which did not have a palatal cingulum.Downloads
