Periodontal biotype describes gingiva by quality on surrounding teeth. This paper tries to show a relation between gingival recession and periodontal biotype. 50 patients attending Clinica de Posgrado de Periodoncia UNMSM were scheduled for evaluation. Gingival recession was recorded using Miller Recession Index and periodontal biotype was recorded by periodontal probe translucency in four regions: Upper buccal anterior, upper buccal posterior, lower buccal anterior and lower buccal posterior. There are statistical significant relationships between gingival recessions and thin periodontal biotype in upper and lower buccal posterior regions (P=0.02 and P=0.002 for each one). There are also statistical significant relationships between gingival hygiene, gingival recession and upper and lower buccal posterior regions (P=0.003 and P=0.012 for each one) Thin periodontal biotype is a factor influencing gingival recession in posterior buccal regions in a peruvian population.Downloads
