Abstract

In the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) it’s interesting to apply two principles: prevention and correction. Against damage comes the obligation to repair and given the risk there is an obligation to prevent. Within this context, it requires stimulating instruments such as Environmental Impact Assessment which is characterized by being preventive. In this regard, it should be noted that the nature of the study is explanatory and documentary. Similarly, the research methods used are analytical, inductive and comparative. Also, to obtain information, went to secondary sources and techniques of literature review and analysis of data on environmental impact assessment in small-scale and artisanal mining were used. From this perspective, the content of this document is structured in four parts. The first establishes the introduction. In the second part the background are posed. The third covers the economic foundation of biodiversity. The fourth comprises the results. Then, bibliography is presented.
