Abstract

Since the analysis of images in its historic context it is proposed a different reading of El Peru Ilustrado, a weekly magazine published at the end of the 19th. century by a migrant who in spite of his Italo-American origin, is committed in an interesting and meaningful editorial and artistic effort, to spread the sense of nation of a country that retrieves slowly from the defeat in the Pacific war. It is an approach to understand and value the contribution of this publication and specially its lithographies since the artistic perspective of the latest XIX century, without the unavoidable prejudices of the one who seeks the past since the restlessners and understanding of the present

  • Emma Patricia Victorio Cánovas, Facultad de Letras y Ciencias Humanas, Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos
    Es Licenciada en Arte, Magíster en Arte Peruano y Latinoamericano y candidata a Doctora en Historia del Arte por la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM). Es docente asociada del Departamento de Arte de la Facultad de Letras y Ciencias Humanas de la UNMSM y enseña en el pregrado y en la Unidad de Posgrado. Es miembro activo del Instituto de Investigaciones Humanísticas (UNMSM). Ha sido becada por la Red de Macro-Universidades de América Latina y el Caribe en el Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (IIE-UNAM). Participa como organizadora y ponente en diversos congresos y seminarios nacionales e internacionales, publica sus investigaciones en revistas especializadas y es profesora invitada en diversas universidades en el Perú y el extranjero. Actualmente es directora del Fondo Editorial de la UNMSM.
