Abstract

This work analyzes the outstanding participation of San Marcos University in a transcendental period of our history (1807-1826), mainly in a basic activity of intellectual dynamics: oratory. Their members continued being the depositories of a tradition that dates back to the medieval world and its important contribution in religious sermons and political speeches helped towards the formation of culture and mentalities of independent Peru

  • Gloria Cristina Flórez, Facultad de Ciencias Sociales, Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos
    Doctora en Historia por la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Especialista en Civilización Medieval por la Universidad Católica de Lovaina (Bélgica). Profesora en la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales (UNMSM) donde es Responsable de la Cátedra Ella Dunbar Temple. Forma parte del Comité Asesor de la OGCRI (UNMSM). Miembro de Número de la Sociedad Bolivariana e integra el Instituto Peruano de Geografía e Historia- Sección Perú. Fue miembro del Consejo de Gobierno de la Universidad de las Naciones Unidas. Es autora del libro Derechos Humanos y Medioevo: un hito en la evolución de una idea y tiene numerosas colaboraciones en libros publicados en Perú y el extranjero.
