Abstract

With the apparition of instruments, known as intelligents, which using the FIELDBUS digital protocol in order to communicate data between them, it is being possible replace to the instruments which using the 4-20 mA analogous standard. This article present the characteristics technique of the more important FIELDBUS protocols, the dispute between them for converting in De facto protocol and the effort the IEC/ISA comity is doing for establishing a De Juri open protocol in order to permit that all manufactures build instruments compatibles between them.
