Abstract

Due to its prolixity, but also to its complexity, one of the main problems posed by the work of José Carlos Mariátegui is its lack of systematization. How to deal with such a markedly heterogeneous production? Contrary to the attempts that, from philology, Mariátegui’s criticism has traditionally undertaken, in this work we propose that it is through a bibliological analysis that Mariátegui’s work can be systematized, fundamentally because we are dealing with a work published almost in its entirety. This implies, then, not only attending to the contents but also the materiality of the books. Establishing as a corpus those works by the amauta that are in the collection of the National Library of Mexico, we will propose a journey through a work that, from this systematization, becomes an example of the sociology of literature in Latin America.
