Abstract

This work's central objective is to present the results of the first field trip related to the “International mobility, human rights and higher education project” developed at the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS/Brazil). The field report presented here comes from the first visit of our team of researchers in April this year to participate in the International Mobility Colloquium at the University of International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusofonia in Malês Campus, city of São Francisco do Conde (Bahia). Among the results obtained, we highlight two fields, one of a theoretical order and the other of a practical order. In the first axis is the discussion of the category of international student in place of that foreign student, justifying the negative semantic load that the latter brings. In the second, there is the characterization of the dynamics of the university, especially the Malês Campus as an international institution, the issues of reception and integration with the local community and the problematization of university internationalization as a mechanism that needs to prioritize South-South contexts.
