Osteological description of the appendicular skeleton of the jaguar (Panthera onca)

The aim of this report was to make an anatomical description of the appendicular skeleton of the jaguar (Panthera onca) to establish anatomical norms in this species. An adult female jaguar was used, which was donated to the National University of Madre de Dios by the National Forestry and Wildlife Service. The osteology of the jaguar has similarities to the osteology of domestic felines, but at the same time certain peculiarities when compared mainly with the puma (Puma concolor) and with those of the same genus as Panthera leo and Panthera tigris.
