De acuerdo a nuestra riqueza histórica, la revista Anales de la Facultad de Medicina enfoca perió- dicamente, temas que atañen a nuestra realidad nacional, en concordancia con la evolución científica, teniendo como objetivo contribuir a la construcción de un país más saludable. En 1950, la Organización Mundial de la Salud, redefine el concepto de salud como «un estado de perfecto (completo) bienestar físico, mental y social, y no sólo la ausencia de enfermedad». Esta definición enfatiza la importancia de la prevención, y, la responsabilidad de su conservación y desarrollo es multidisciplinaria y multisectorial. Si bien los adelantos de la bioquímica y la biología molecular han influido poderosamente en el pensamiento del médico contemporáneo y los profesionales de la salud, que consideran a las personas individualmente, tratando de restablecer la salud desde una perspectiva ultraestructural y molecular; nosotros como miembros del equipo debemos centrarnos en la búsqueda de los factores de riesgo que comprometen la salud de la población y en cuyas soluciones participamos todos, comenzando con la responsabilidad del propio individuo en su autocuidado.Downloads
