Neonatal mortality: a challenge for the country and the university

Los medios de comunicación tienen la capacidad para colocar en la agenda pública problemas de interés nacional y promover respuestas de los actores del gobierno y la sociedad civil. No obstante, muchas veces la noticia llega incompleta o sesgada, lo cual dificulta ver los problemas de forma integral y apropiada. La universidad tiene un rol clave que cumplir al respecto, en función a su solvencia técnica y científica, pero por sobre todo, de su legitimidad y credibilidad social. En ese contexto, la Facultad de Medicina de San Fernando de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos organizó el conversatorio “Mortalidad neonatal: situación y propuestas desde la universidad”, llevado a cabo el 13 de setiembre de 2019, con la participación de autoridades políticas, expertos temáticos y representantes de la sociedad civil, cuyos comentarios se sintetizan en este editorial. Esta actividad se enmarca en el observatorio del sistema de salud del Perú, que dicha casa de estudios viene construyendo durante el presente año.
