The kidney is an organ that is frequently transplanted, often coming from living donors, with few reports of survival in our environment. Objective: To identify the characteristics of kidney donors in a reference hospital of Lima, Peru. Material and Methods: Retrospective study in kidney donors of a hospital between 2015 and 2021. Performing a follow-up in the institutional registry system until December 2022. Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) (mL/min/1.73m2) was calculated based on the modified four-parameter MDRD-6 equation and the classification of chronic kidney disease into five stages. Results: Out of 305 renal transplants, 44.9% were in female patients and 15.5% in patients younger than 18 years old. The 34.4% of transplants corresponded to living donor (105 cases), who are between 25 to 65 years old (median 41, interquartile range 19), they was female (52.4%) and parents of the recipient 46.67%. Survival time from donation was 5.14 years (SD 2.33) with a range of 1 to 9 years, with GFR greater than 60% in 85.7% of patients, with no deaths identified. Conclusions: 45% of renal transplants between 2015-2021 in the hospital evaluated came from living donor, donors had a median age of 41 years, with direct blood relationship (mostly parents of the recipient). The average follow-up period was 5.14 years.
