Abstract

The fascinating topic clotting . the blood has been studied since ancient times, while many researchers have worked on it. Around the last twenty years there have been a number of very important discoveries, with significant benefits in terms of clinical and therapeutic perspective . The introduction by Quick 0, 2 ) time , prothrombin of a state and its subsequent application to anticoagulant therapy and , on the other hand , the extraction and isolation by Link and Campbell ( 3, 4 ) the " byshydroxycoumarin " and use later in human clinical research (5, 6) , marked the beginning of the use of oral anticoagulants so widespread today, even in outpatients undergoing long-term treatment . The result has been the prevention of thrombosis and embolism in many cardiovascular diseases and prolonging life in a variety of thromboembolic disorders .
