Abstract

Has made an attempt to interpret the results obtained in the treatment of patients with various antibiotics brucelosos, identifying possible mechanism of action of the tetracyclines, particularly to precipitate the oxiletraciclina neutralizing solutions of the drug in crystalline form is very poor solubility and ground to a fine powder which is easily phagocytosed by neutrophil polymorphonuclear leukocytes and monocytes. It is believed that in this way it is possible to reach the sites of major brucella proliferation and that is that the infectious agent is exposed to higher concentrations of the antibiotic to destroy phagocytes or in the form of particles, can penetrate into reticulo endothelial cells which would interfere with the intracellular proliferation. Whether or not this interpretation correct, the fact is that the administration of this form of oxytetracycline, in very small doses has free action on the course of bacteremia as shown in the graph.
