Three strains of Type A, influenza virus have been prevalent in urban areas of Peru. Antigenic experience, as shown by hemagglutination inhibition test with the PR8 an Asian Jap/305/57 virus strains was demostrated among 100 first and second year medical students. Sero-inmunity to PR8 and FM1 viruses was found among 93 per cent of the individuals tested; sero-inmunity to the Asian strain of virus was demostrated among 31 subjects. The incidence of these infections as indicated by the sero-inmunity produced, is similar to that found among similar groups in North America.Downloads
