Abstract

In recent years, overseas and particularly in the United States of America, has made ​​remarkable progress in the knowledge of an auxiliary method for the study of the cardiovascular system, which has been called: ballistocardiography. This procedure first used in 1877 by JW Gordon, is charting the movements of the body, caused by each heartbeat, giving us an idea about the mechanical activity of the heart, allowing, when the log is normal, measure the ejection volume, according to formulas set by Starr and in clinical use today, particularly in the knowledge of the vascular status of the patients, particularly in the coronary patients and as a sensitive indicator of vascular age.
