Abstract

In the present work were determined the levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and ozone (O3) in the air of the Villa María del Triunfo district. The collection of air samples was carried out at 5 stations with a vacuum pump equipment, during the period from June 6 to July 2, 2023. The concentration of NO2, SO2 and O3 in air were determined by ultraviolet – visible spectrophotometry. An average concentration of NO2, SO2 and O3 of 10.1762 µg/m3, 29.3515 µg/m3 and 2.7974 µg/m3 were obtained, respectively. The average concentration of NO2, SO2 and O3 in the air did not exceed the Environmental Quality Standard (ECA) established by the Ministry of the Environment - MINAM (NO2: 200 µg/m3, SO2: 250 µg/m3, O3: 100 µg/m3), this would be related to the pandemic situation experienced in 2020 that led to confinement, and with it, a decrease in vehicle circulation in the district, one of the main sources of said atmospheric pollutants.
