Abstract

Quechuan and Aymaran languages display a high degree of isomorphism in every aspect of grammar. In reconstructing phonological processes, the */ĉ/ > /t/ change is considered as proper of Aymara. In this paper, some possible cases of alternance */ĉ/ ~ /t/ and change */ĉ/ > /t/ are analyzed in six Quechua varieties, three from QI and three from QII. As a consequence of recognizing and applying these processes in some quechua words, a recurring set of suffixes in Quechuan languages will be reconstructed, in order to show that this change may have some possible relevance for Andean Historical Linguistics studies.
