Traducción audiovisual y teleficción queer es una obra fundamental para comprender las complejidades de la traducción audiovisual (TAV) en la representación de identidades homosexuales. Basado en la tesis doctoral de Villanueva-Jordán (2021), el libro aborda la traducción y adaptación hacia distintos contextos culturales de la representación de masculinidades gay en televisión. Esto se lleva a cabo desde una perspectiva crítica y construccionista; es decir, se parte del supuesto de que la cultura y la concepción de realidad se basan en sistemas de significado creados por los individuos a través del uso del lenguaje (Hall, 2013). La obra utiliza la serie Looking (Lannan, 2014) de HBO como caso de estudio, a fin de analizar las versiones dobladas para América Latina y España, y propone una metodología innovadora que integra teorías posestructuralistas y de los estudios culturales.
