Jaime Ríos: Profesor Marcelo Arnold, ¿Qué importancia científica y social tienen hoy para América Latina y El Caribe los Encuentros Pre Alas previo al Congreso de Costa Rica 2015?
Estos encuentros son el legado de una antigua práctica de la Asociación. De hecho, las Asociaciones Nacionales de Sociología, desde los comienzos, se hicieron parte de la Asociación y acoplaron sus propios congresos con las actividades de ALAS. Actualmente, entre otras funciones, los eventos nacionales permiten el re-encuentro de las comunidades de ciencias sociales locales y alinearlas con las temáticas y discusiones previstas para el Congreso Bienal de la Asociación. También, por lo que he podido apreciar, son un espacio para el dialogo intergeneracional, donde jóvenes maestros y sus estudiantes se vinculan con “figuras” internacionales en un contexto de discusión crítica, respetuosa y transparente.
