The Huarochiri manuscripts and the problem of double translation

This research reflects on the linguistic approach to the Huarochirí manuscripts. It is proposed to differentiate two levels of translation of the document. The first level refers to the transcription made by the original author of the text from his mother tongue into Quechua; the second level refers to the translation of the Quechua text into European languages. Likewise, the differences in the translation of the two canonical versions into Spanish are analysed and more suitable alternatives are proposed in certain terms. The aim is to continue the debate about the message and importance of this valuable manuscript and to encourage further research that will shed more light on the content of this invaluable national treasure.
