Industrial effluents containing dissolved metals must be treated for disposal to the environment in order to meet the levels allowed by the environmental authority. These effluents are generated due to the mining-metallurgical processes activity and acid drainage. In the case of small mining companies in order to abate the concentration of dissolved metals in their effluents achieved under difficult environmental standards mainly due to financial constraints. The present study addresses the issue by raising the chemical precipitation method, and then an adsorption by ionic exchange resins, which allow to obtain the effluent free of dissolved metals. The advantages and factors involved in the process based on laboratory tests for scaling to flow processes in future work are discussed.
