Mapeo de Habilidades de Pensamiento Superior en Clases de Inglés con Propósitos Específicos

Este artículo presenta los principales fundamentos y hallazgos de una investigación sobre habilidades de pensamiento superior en cursos de inglés legal de la Universidad Santo Tomás en Villavicencio (Colombia), con el objetivo de responder la siguiente pregunta: ¿cuál es el impacto de fomentar las habilidades de pensamiento de orden superior en las clases de inglés legal? Se trata de una investigación descriptiva longitudinal mixta, desarrollada en un periodo de dos años con 56 estudiantes del programa de Derecho con un rango de edad entre 21 y 23 años, que indagó tres cuestiones: las percepciones de los estudiantes sobre las clases de inglés legal, después de 2 años de participar en lecciones diseñadas bajo la taxonomía de Bloom; las percepciones de los estudiantes sobre las habilidades de pensamiento superior y su influencia en el aprendizaje de una lengua extranjera y en su desempeño futuro como abogados, y la identificación y el análisis de las fortalezas y debilidades de la metodología implementada. Los instrumentos de recolección de datos fueron una encuesta, una entrevista semiestructurada y los artefactos elaborados por los estudiantes. Los resultados sugieren que los estudiantes reconocen la relevancia de las habilidades de pensamiento superior en cuanto a la formación recibida en la universidad y su futuro desempeño profesional; sin embargo, no tienen una comprensión clara de las funciones y acciones relacionadas con el análisis, la evaluación y la creación. Se evidencia que se requiere una mayor exposición a experiencias de aprendizaje que involucren el pensamiento superior, y su interconexión con la vida cotidiana más allá del salón de clases.
