A Lexical Study of Minor Toponymy in the town center of Veracruz-Totos in Peru

In the town of Veracruz-Totos in the Ayacucho department of Peru, there is no register of the lexical-semantic corpus or linguistic studies of its toponyms, hence the objective of this research is to analyze the semantics and morphosyntax of the minor toponymy of this town. In order to fulfill this objective, a qualitative methodology with a non-experimental and transversal study design was used. The method is of a synchronic nature, oriented to the knowledge of the lexicon of the area. After analyzing the information, it was determined that the toponyms of Veracruz are mainly formed by the union of two nominal lexemes and that they can be grouped under semantic fields, three of which are presented in the analysis: phytotoponyms, hydrotoponyms and orotoponyms. This contribution allows us to safeguard the names assigned to the locality and it is recommended that a larger number of toponyms can be analyzed in subsequent research.
