This paper was presented on the Twelfth Congress of the Latin American Association of Communication Researchers - ALAIC, which took place at the Pontificia Universidad Católica of Peru on August 6, 7 and 8, 2014. This paper is part of the research we are developing in the Institute of Humanities Research at the National University of San Marcos in Peru: Rupturas epistemológicas en el pensamiento comunicacional latinoamericano 1970-2000 [Epistemological Ruptures on the Latin American Communication Thought 1970-2000]. It is proposed the general hypothesis that in the seventies took place the first epistemological rupture of Latin American communicators against the American theory of communication, dominant in Latin America. In this orientation, it is analyzed whether there has been this epistemological rupture in the field of social communication and tries to determine what is its nature. The research is a contribution to the field of epistemology of social communication in Latin America that can identify changes in the constitution and development of Latin American communication thought.Downloads
