In this article, we present the latest version of a part of my research among the Ponchoni Ashéninkas of Gran Pajonal.
The contact among these languages began before the arrival of the Spanish missionaries to these areas. This contact was established when the ancient inhabitants of the highlands and jungle started commercial transactions.
Despite the access to the western economy, globalization and the road, the Gran Pajonal Asheninka continues being spoken as a tongue with high percentages of functional use.
