Abstract

Simbólicas is a poem of essences, colors, shapes and textures. Synesthesia is used as a literary device (metaphors), merged with abstract concepts typical of symbolism. Symbols are something the reader perceives through a sensory channel. When the reader perceives this intuitively and not rationally, he feels that what he is reading carries a deeper meaning that transcends, that is inexplicable. It escapes from everyday life in order to take us to an unreal and sensory world; a phenomenon, which only a master like Jose Maria Eguren can offer us. This paper will analyze how and from which perspectives colors as a sensory code are mentioned in Simbólicas, and in what context it is being applied.
