This study aims at collecting and analyzing examples of ancient Greek folk wisdom expressed in proverbs, sayings and popular phrases of the early Greeks, the so-called “Seven Sages”. It systematizes them by topics, and compares them with the Hebrew wisdom literature translated into Greek, and with the current popular wisdom. The author analyzes the content of the Greek wisdom and, when she compares it with the Hebrew, she points out the originality of each one. She also points out the similarities discovered in the Spanish popular wisdom expressed mainly in Cervantine proverbs or sayings which are part of our way of life and thinking.Downloads
