Abstract

This article discusses the process of grammaticalization of the subjunctive verb digamos (let’s say) as a discourse marker through the mechanism of subjectivity in oral colloquial Spanish. Based on the analysis of a synchronous corpus of spontaneous spoken language and a diachronic corpus of Spanish, we will explicit the subjective expressive uses produced by pragmatic inferences whose base is the subjective nature of the communicative event.
