Existen libros de los que solo hemos escuchado su nombre y su trascendencia en un ámbito académico o cultural determinado, pero al que no hemos podido acceder, sea por su corto tiraje, por su carácter “periférico” o por motivos políticos. Un ensayo de escuela nueva en el Perú (1932) de José Antonio Encinas calza con estas tres características. Para mi generación, o al menos a los que estábamos interesados en el estudio de la producción regional del siglo pasado, acceder a este texto era muy complicado, salvo que sea a través de algunas bibliotecas particulares. Era ese libro del que se hablaba sin haberlo leído.
