Consisting of nine stories, the book Al filo de la muralla by David Elí Salazar recreates scenes and episodes set in the department of Cerro de Pasco. Its protagonists are related to the experience of mining work and their experiences, so the problems and conflicts dealt with in the stories are directly linked to the pit, a mark that, like an open wound, is produced by the exploitation and growth of the mining industry in this region of Peru. The stories, which show a knowledge of the history of Pasqueña society, particularly the work in the mine, are inscribed within the poetics of social realism, which delves into the vicissitudes, inner dramas and anguish of the beings that belong to the microcosm of Cerreña.
