This article addresses the role of principles and main philosophical topics, as well as the influence of voluntarist and existentialist philosophical irrationalism in the work of Julio Ramón Ribeyro (1929-1994). In it, there is a constant concern for philosophical issues such as the absurd, freedom, loneliness, the congenital evil of the human being, the meaning of existence, chance, circular time, overlapping, and so on. Through the reading of philosophers such as Hobbes, Nietzsche, Heidegger and Sartre, as well as that of writers such as Dostoevsky, Kafka, Hesse, Beckett, Borges and Camus, Ribeyro structured and configured an irrationalist conception of the world: For this reason, his work is built, to a great extent, on these philosophical-literary bases that constitute the backbone of his poetics.
