The memory of the Wichí people, one of several that inhabit the South American region of the Gran Chaco, preserves oral maps from ancient times. These include the honhates lheyis or names of places, rest and supply points on the routes of the wichi ta welekhen or campeadores. I stop here at the verbal art (Ciccone, 2021) of a selection of them recorded by the Wichí writer Laureano Segovia in his book Olhamel Otichuhneyaj. Our memory (1998). Considering this writing as an expression of literature of oral tradition or literature of the hut (Espino Relucé, 2010) and thus also of oralitura (Huamán, 2013), I address some procedures of metaphorization of space proposing these oral, indigenous and cultural resistance maps as dissident cartographies (Zusman, 2002) of a Pilcomayeña region (Altuna & Palermo, 1996) in the framework of current struggles for memories (Jelin, 2002) and belonging to the land.
