Writing translates into the subject's obsession with the other, with that invisible being whom one wishes to persuade and conquer through the inscription of codified signs. Ergo, epistolary writing is the impregnable demonstration of the obsession with transgressing real reality and being only in the world, verbal, linguistic, imagined reality. The objective of this research is to analyze and interpret how the conflictive dimension of absence and desire for existence is constructed and represented through the obsession of epistolary writing in the letters of the Argentine writer Julio Cortázar. To demonstrate this, the concepts of narratology and hermeneutics will be used in order to be able to analyze the elements of the epistolary structure and understand the meaning of the content.
