This article we will evidence certain discourses in texts from Arequipa newspaper como “El Deber” and “El Pueblo” in the context of modernity and the centennial of the Independence of Peru. These manifest the instrumentalization of the subject or the personification of the machine and the relation with the use of the topic of individual freedom to justify a posible revanchist against Chile during the second decade of the 20th century. This historical momento coincides with the heyday of the Peruvian literary avant-garde. In this sense, the other objective of the article is to glimpse a of the first signs of the evolution of the modern instrumentalizing discourse of the subject such as dehumanization as a topic of the Latin American, Peruvian, and indigenous vanguard; taking into account that our objects of study are dissident and non-canonical.
