This work accounts for the presence of the poet César Vallejo in the Amauta magazine (1926-1930), establishing an analysis of the different writings present there (poems, short stories, and essays). In the first place, a reflection is established around the Latin American vanguards, as a renovating example and typical of this experience on the continent. Secondly, some of Vallejo’s poems and essays in Amauta are analyzed, in relation to the problems of the avant-garde and “new poetry” in Latin America. Finally, Vallejo’s last two works are analyzed and how they are inserted in the debates and political programs within Amauta.
