Forensic voice comparison is one of the tasks of forensic phonetics that consists of matching dubious voice samples (incriminated in various crimes) with indubitable or reliable samples of one or more suspects. To make a good comparison, in addition to using appropriate methods, the samples need to be relevant for comparison (Machuca, Ríos & Llisterri., 2014). Therefore, the expert must know the discursive characteristics of the dubbed samples, the methods of collecting linguistic data, and the audio processing techniques in order to ensure the suitability of the samples to be examined. The purpose of this article is to outline the linguistic principles of indubitable sample collection procedures. Under a functional linguistic approach, a conceptual framework is established that links oral discourse and linguistic fieldwork techniques for forensic speech analysis.
