GUIDELINES TO CORRECTLY READ SPANISH TERMS FROM GREEK AND LATIN ORIGIN

All of us possibly have had doubts about the pronunciation of neologisms or termsderived from Greek or Latin because of the uncertainty of the location of its tonicor unstressed syllables. This paper intends to point out the general guidelines for a correct reading ofthose original Latin words passed into Spanish, as well as words from Greek originwhich were introduced into Spanish through the Latin language. For ModernGreek neologisms which did not have Latin as an intermediary, Spanish generallykeeps the original Greek stress. Finally, we analyze some words about which pronunciationSpanish offers doubts, on certain occasions.
