Abstract

Clarity so obscure (2011) by Carlos Herrera presents two alternative stories: one which takes place in a present time marked by a special «Tragedy» at cosmicplanetary level and which obliges five people (among them the narrator) to hide in a special closed refuge, and another which is the result of a study of the life of the Jesuit priest, Antonio Ruiz de Montoya, founder of the missionary stations of Guayra in the seventeenth century. In this article we propose to approach the novel from the standpoint of intertextuality which is now a fundamental process for observing the feelings that derive from a real relationship between a colonial past and an absolutely modern present day.
