Abstract

This research delves into the organized experience of the citizens of the Urbanization Las Brisas de Huachipa, located in the district of Lurigancho (Lima, Perú), facing the problem of crime, as well as the weak response of State institutions and actors. In this regard, our thesis suggests that the best capacity of the State in the prevention and repression of crime strengthens its relationship with citizenship. Research results reflect the importance of considering citizen security as a social right. This approach prioritises the social dimension of the problem and proposes more options to the state to guarantee a dignified life for citizens.
