This work analyses all the state projects that were carried out to provide the city of Lima with a modern, spacious and new hospital, which will replace the old Santa Ana hospital, the same that has already collapsed with more than 300 years old, presenting several proposals to eliminate it. The country was governed by Augusto B. Leguía, centralizing all the power in his hands, he will be in charge of providing the city of Lima with great buildings that represent progress and his government, called «Patria Nueva» (new homeland). Among these projects we should mention the Santa Beatriz Urbanization, Av. Arequipa, «Parque de la Reserva» and a new hospital for Lima, «Arzobispo Loayza Hospital», which had a long construction process, due to the continuous political crises, but would be finally built taking advantage of the celebrations for the centenary of the national independence, providing Lima with a hospital that represents the symbols of modernism of the incoming 20th century.
