Abstract

This article analyzes four policies from the environmental sector and three from the agricultural sector connected to gender equality. Both entities converge in their impact on people’s livelihoods, especially those depending directly on natural resources for their subsistence. In the 1990s, Peru subscribed the Beijing Platform for Action and committed to eradicate gender gaps and all forms of sex discrimination, and ensure that every intervention involve the gender perspective. From that moment on, strengthening the gender institutional framework in the State. Despite this progress, however, the results of the analyzed policies of both sectors show that they do not adequately integrate the gender perspective. In some cases there is conceptual confusion of the term as it is assumed to be a synonym for women, and there is very few references to the international and national frameworks on gender.
