Comment. Notes on the problems of social research in Latin America

The purpose of this brief commentary is to present the text by Aníbal Quijano that deals with epistemological and theoretical issues essential to the debate on the emergence of a model of critical social thought as an alternative to the hegemonic Eurocentric perspective. It addresses some fundamental issues in the debate on paradigms (power, rationality, objectivity) and on the new Latin American problematics of social research (the transnationalization of capital and its implications for Latin America in the processes of social classification, the social movements of the dominated, and the processes of change in intersubjective relations).
