This article studies the historical process of Peru’s foreign policy with Germany from 1936 to 1942. It seeks to explain the events and causes of the changes in Peru’s foreign policy until the rupture of diplomatic relations between Peru and Germany. To achieve this research goal, the article analyzes first the national political history, and secondly, Peruvian foreign policy: the Peruvian community in Germany, the maritime security zone, and the causes of the rupture of diplomatic relations after the outbreak of World War II. Dossiers issued and admitted by diplomatic legations of Peru, critically selected, are examined to understand the situation of Peruvian foreign policy and changes in the country.
