Raúl Porras Barrenechea (1897-1960) was one of the most important historians of the Centennial generation. His academic work was shared with the diplomacy at where he could unite various aspects of the destinations of Peru. Porras described the Amazon as a mysterious land of legend where exist a clear historical and geographical indissoluble union, marked by the colonizing and civilizing action throughout history. Finally, the Amazon was described by Porras as a future source of resources for development, the larder of the humanity, that is to say, the bases that will convert the "spiritual panorama of Peru" in to a reality.
